Cable Assembly

A leading manufacturer in the cash management market, providing note counters and coin sorters were looking at Asian sources to lower the cost of their note counters. This might have involved moving all of production over to Asia and closing the manufacturing facility in the states.

APLUS asked for the opportunity to review the cable assemblies that were being utilized in these units for possible cost savings. These cable assemblies made up around 40% of the total cost of the models. All other products were metal and plastic parts which had been reduced to a small value already. APlus reviewed all the cable assemblies and were able to provide these assemblies at half the current cost which was enough savings to keep the manufacturing in the states and maintain the workforce. APlus provided these assemblies through a local distributor that was providing a VMI program at this customer, which created further cost savings and supported lean manufacturing.
